This DIY project will produce a small dome flash unit suitable for macro or close-up photography as well as easily adaptable for use as a background or fill flash and even product photography. The flash has a nice uniform soft light that suits may different types of photos. It will run on a single AA (alkaline or rechargeable), mine has a PC port as well as built in optical slave. The total cost of materials (if you didn’t have anything on hand) is about $30. Not bad for a nice fill flash!

Yes it was supposed to suck! That was the assignment
To make a sucky picture.
This week’s assignment was to create a sucky picture that was not sucky due to technical difficulties (like out of focus, camera blur etc). To purposefully make a photo suck.
I have a hard drive full and couldn’t use em. We had to make it specifically for this assignment.
The Flickr thread.
This was to be a “made” shot as Don puts it. We just couldn’t go to a sport and grab a shot. We had to plan, stage and light it. It had to be vertical, color and expected on the left page of a 2 page spread in a magazine.
This wasn’t an easy one this week. Weather had not cooperated much lately up here in Milwaukee. Its either been raining or cold. Or both.
