Gradient Designer

What a handy little puppy this turned out to be. It was originally written for a one shot use in an image but people started to fall in love with it so I added and improved on the original program. It sports 2 wave generators and 5 output mapping modes. The two wave generators (sine and square) both support linear/log falloff, amplitude and period settings. You can save/load splines and wave generator templates so you can pick up and modify from a previous session. For generating greyscale images for use with any application, but it is especially suited to use with Bryce's terrains. Simply generate your image and load in bryce.

Here are some test renders from Bryce using terrains generated by this app:

  • Fountain This image was made with only 2 terrains and nothing else
  • TheWave SymLat with a falloff ripple wave
  • WaveTest Corner radial mapping
  • WaveTest1 Sample showing falloff
  • WaveTest2 Tightness set down low
  • ripplecombo.jpg Example showing mixing
  • Faces.jpg The water ripples and base are from GD, the faces are terrains
  • kiss.jpg 3 objects from the same spline, one square, one round, one linear..Hershey Kiss? All objects are terrains from GD.
  • roundness.jpg This shows how the roundness slider affects the radial and corner mappings.

704k (requires VB6 runtimes)

This application has been tested and runs under Win98se on a Macintosh G3-350 using VirtualPC ver3
