Fable

For those of you that have the urge to be a landlord in Fable, here is a much needed map showing properties that suddenly may be placed on the market . . . should their current owners . . um . . . disappear. There are 5 towns (well, Bowerstown South and North are actualy 1 town but the game treats them as 2 areas so I have) in which you can purchase property and rent them out for profit. Each town has its own rental rate. This rate is a percent of the purchace price. The rate as well as purchase prices and rent earned each day are listed on the graphic for all the properties I have managed to buy.

Rental Sumary
Town House Tavern Shop
Bowerstone South 2% ? ?
Oakvale 5% 2% .2%
Knothole Glade 4% 1% .2%
Bowerstone North 2% - ?
Hook Coast 2% 1% ?

Bowerstown North and South are rather difficult to become a landlord in due to the fact that no weapons are allowed there. You will have to use the "Follow" command and lure current owners out of town for their disappearances. Most houses in Bowerstown South have children living in them and thus far I have been unable to get the children to leave the city, even though they will follow me around inside the city.

The remaining towns are much easier to aquire poperty in since they allow weapons, though most don't allow them to be drawn, but out of site of the guards . . well you know what to do.

As far as profitibility, houses are the most profitable, follwed by taverns and least profitable are shops. Shops, in my opinion are a complete waste of time. I heard rumors that once you owned the shop, you got better prices. I have not seen this at all, prices remained exactly the same, even after several game days. With most shops carrying a hefty price tag and .2% (yes thats POINT 2%!!) rent rate, why would I even consider throwing, say 34,000 gold to earn a piddly 68 gold a day? I mean really, you could take that same 34,000, buy 3 barns and 2 houses and be earning 1,550 gold a day, 92 times more profitable!. Buy the shops if you want but I will not bother with them again. For towns, Oakvale is my favorite. Its reachable extremely early in the game. You can run to it right after graduating from the guild. Save often (every gate!) and take health potions with you because you might get hit. Don't battle, just run like a scalded dawg. Once there you get a nice cutscene and a culis gate you can use for future visits. Oakvale has the highest return on cash, 5%, but it has pretty low property values which makes aquiring early property easier. Once you aquire all of Oakvale, you will be earning 4,720 per day rent. My next favorite is Knothole Glade but the cheapest property there is 13,500 and you must wait until you are allwed to teleport there via game events but with a hefty outlay of cash, you will be making 5,785 per day rent there. Hook coast, is really a waste of time, you are at the end of the game and if you are hard up for cash now, you been doing something really wrong and rent isn't going to fix it..
